The same here. Crashes on 2 different XP-machines, on W7 it works.
The portable version works.
For the next beta this should be fixed.

With XP here on my pc i'm getting the same problems with installation of the normal beta-program. Searching for applications to be closed, the installer crashes.

With transportable beta no problems. Perfect import of my data etc. :D

No, start it from the directory it lies in.

Yeah, I d/l and tried to install it again but it still crashes while searching for programs that could affect the install, ironic eh?

Safe Mode didn't work, same result - crash. :(

Second Active user didn't apply to me either as I'm the only user.

Some had experienced the same issue with XP. One of them suggested that it could be a second active user.
Maybe the installation works if you start XP in safe mode.

Yeah, I restarted Windows first then decided to switch off for good measure, but no change - still crashing.

Did you tried to reboot Windows?

I run the installer and it crashes every time as it searches for software that needs to be closed.
