TV-Browser 2.5 ist eine stabile Version. Damit ist es jetzt möglich Bilder in der Programmtabelle und in den Plugins anzuzeigen. Allerdings gibt es momentan nur zu einigen kleinen Sendern Bilder, wir arbeiten aber daran, dies auszubauen.

Das Zwischenablage-Plugin wurde aus Usability-Gründen aufgeteilt in Zwischenablage und Markieren. Für Nutzer des alten Zwischenablage-Systems mag dies am Anfang verwirrend sein, jedoch hat das neue Markieren-System deutliche Vorteile.

Es besteht jetzt auch die Möglichkeit, Sendungen einfach an Outlook (dank Udo Weigelt), Apples iCal und Google-Kalender zu exportieren. Das Plugin-System wurde überarbeitet, um den Plugin-Entwicklern mehr Möglichkeiten einzuräumen. So können Plugins jetzt zum Beispiel eigene Sendungsfilter und Filterkomponenten anbieten.

Wichtig: TV-Daten, die mit TV-Browser 2.5 heruntergeladen werden und Bilder enthalten können von älteren Versionen nicht gelesen werden.

TV-Browser 2.5 setzt mindestens Java 5.0 voraus. Für die wenigen Plattformen für die nur Java 1.4.2 verfügbar ist, wird die 2.2-Reihe von TV-Browser weiter gepflegt und auch die Anzeige der Bilder unterstützen.
